Born in the serene landscapes of Kyoto, Japan, Hiroto Numi was immersed in the philosophy of wabi-sabi from an early age—an appreciation for the beauty in the imperfection and transience of life. This philosophy deeply influenced his aesthetic values. After relocating to Sweden in his late thirties, Hiroto encountered a complementary aesthetic in Scandinavian minimalism, known for its functionality and understated elegance. This fusion of Eastern tradition with Northern European design led him to establish NUMI Lamps.
